Epperson
Lodoska Epperson was the wife of John (Black John) Alexander Rymer. She was born in 1838 and died in 1920. Her father was Jesse Epperson Jr, who was born in 1809 and the son of Jesse Epperson Sr. We have no further record of Jesse Epperson Sr.

Jessie Epperson Jr. was married to Louisa Dodson. They had 9 children. We have no knowledge (other than Lodaska) of their marriage. Our records show: John Leslie Epperson Born 1833 died 1913, Thomas Epperson born 1834, Levi B. Epperson born 1836, Lodoska Epperson born 1838 died 1920 married John Alexander Rymer, Mary Epperson no info, Jasper Epperson born 1844, Rebecca Epperson born 1846, Sarah Epperson born 1848 and Jess W. Epperson born 1849. One of Uncle Wills (Wilford Rymer) daughter  married an Epperson and had at least two children; Carol and David.

We have more information on Lodoska's maternal line.  Records go back to Charles Dodson Sr., who and his wife Mary Durham had a son Thomas Dodson Sr.,  who's son Thomas Jr. and his wife and Elizabeth Rose Dodson were the parents of The Rev. Jesse Dodson Sr, who was born on November 22, 1752 in Halifax county, VA and died  in 1843 in McMinn county TN. The Rev. Dodson married his cousin Ruth Dodson, born 1754. Their son Jessie Dodson Jr. was born in 1791, he married a Mary Newton (born 1790, died McMinn co. TN 1862) their daughter Louisa was born in 1812 and married Jessie Epperson Jr. They had 10 children listed in this section.

Griffin/Acker
Susan Claudia Griffin McCamy wife of Franklin Wellborn McCamy family lineage is as follows:
William Griffin born 1740 died 1800, served during the american revolution. He lived near Pittsboro and Chapel Hill, NC and later moved to Anderson SC. His first marriage was to Sara Kirksey, they had a son, John born in 1765 (1762??) died 1839. William married a second time to Elizabeth Stroud.

We are unsure of the name of John's wife, it could be Nancy or Anna. They had a son John C. born1790 died 1842.
John C Griffin  married Mary Isabella Gardner they had a son, John Calhoun Griffin. (Some of the family think she was of Indian decent)
 John Calhoun Griffin born 1815 died 1893, married Frances Elizabeth Acker (her parents were Halbert and Elizabeth Garrison Acker)  in January 1846 their daughter Susan married Franklin Wellborn McCamy

In addition to Susan, John Calhoun and Elizabeth Griffin had seven other children. Their daughter, Mary Isabelle Griffin  born 1855 died 1936 married George Gray Whitcomb M.D. in 1879

McCamy

While much of this site is about the McCamy family in this extended family section we wish to show more than the direct descendents so this is included.

William McCamy (father David McKemy) was born in 1777 in Virgina, in his late teens he settled in the area that became Blount county TN he changed the spelling of his surname to McCamy to difference it from the other McKamy or McKamies.

William McCamy married Mary "Polly" Chandler who was born in Wilkes co NC in 1781. They had nine children:

Robert born 1808 died 1871 married Martha "Patsy" Julian

William B. born 1818 died 1894 married Sally Jackson and Ann Julian Smith

NOTE: Sarah and Martha Julian were twins, William B. 's second wife Ann Julian Smith was a niece of Sarah and Martha.

Mary "Polly" Chandler's (wife of William) father, Timothy Chandler fought in the battle of Kings Mountain in October 1780.  Timothy Chandler's parents were Joel and Priscilla Chandler.  Molly Chandler's parents were Timothy and Hattie J. Chandler.

In 1791 the family moved to Sevier county, TN and named their plantation (possibly a land grant for service) Wheatlands. Some of Wheatlands structures are still standing,  it is on the register of historical places and is open to the public.  For more  information click on:
