Black-John-Rymer headstone
Headstones of John Alexander "Black John" Rymer and his wife Lodaska Epperson in Cooksin Creek cemetery. "Black John" was born in Buncombe county NC, his birth date as shown on his tombstone was February 22, 1830. His confederate army enlistment in 1862 lists him as 30, indicating he was born in 1832, he died on November 28, 1901. Lodaska was born in Polk Co. TN  on February/22/1838 (may be in error) and died on September 23, 1920. Both were living in Polk county TN at the time of their death.

Albert Taylor Rymer was born in Polk county, TN on June 15, 1886 and died in Murray county, GA on February 1, 1931. He was originally buried in Summerour cemetery in Murray county, GA.  Frances wanted to be buried next to her husband but there was no room. Frances and the rest of her family had moved back to Polk county, TN. Frances purchased plots in the cemetery at Benton, TN and had Albert's remains moved there so she could be buried next to him.


Mama's headstone
Frances Claudia McCamy Rymer was born in the Peachtree community NC, near Murphy on June 9, 1890. She died on August 21, 1989 in Bradley county, TN, survived by her seven children and was buried next to her beloved husband Albert in the Benton, TN cemetery.

On Saturday June 21, 2014 the family gathered together as a memorial to Onie and to scatter her ashes at her parents grave-site in Benton.

He was the youngest child of Robert and Patsy McCamy. He married Susan Claudia Griffin on November 8, 1874.

Susan Griffin McCamy the mother of Frances McCamy Rymer was born in Anderson, SC. In 1874 (after the family  moved to Murray County GA) at the age of 17 she married Franklin Wellborn McCamyThe couple had three sons (one died young) and six daughters. In 1890, when Frances was born they were living in the Peachtree community (Near Murphy) NC. In order for the girls to get an education at the end of 1890 the family moved to Young-Harris, GA, where a college had just been founded. Five of the six sisters graduated from Young-Harris. This was quite unusual in the days when girls generally did not attend college.

John Julian McCamy  (Uncle John) was born on September 22, 1880 (believe it was in either Murray county GA or Peachtree community NC). He died on February 28, 1929 in Murray county GA and is buried next to his parents in Summerour Cemetery. He never married.


Frank Rymer's headstone

Frank Albert Rymer was born on April 17, 1913, the oldest child of Albert and Frances Rymer. Albert was working on the "Flume Line" at the time and Frank was born in a cabin where a creek entered the Ocoee river (Polk county, TN). He died at Old Fort, TN on August 8, 1997 and is buried next to his parents in the Benton, TN cemetery.

Willie Mae "Bill" Higdon Rymer was born at Reliance, TN (Polk county) on May 27, 1912 and died at Old Fort, TN (Polk county) on June 11, 1987. She is buried next to Frank Albert Rymer, her husband in the Benton, TN cemetery
